Dog Attack

I went to another conservation area today primarily to
take pictures of a waterfalls. Turns out I went to the
wrong park since this one didn't in fact have any
waterfalls. I couldn't figure out why it wasn't on any
of the maps until I got home and realized what I had
done. Anyway, it did have some lovely fall colours so
all was not lost. Pictures for your viewing available
later.

Now for the interesting part, as I am walking along
the trail I see a dog up ahead who sees me and starts
bounding over. I figure no problem a nice pet of the
dog and off I go again. The dog had other ideas since
he wasn't the friendly type. Essentially the dog was
looking like he was going to attack me. The owner
started to call the dog and eventually it took off
only to come back again. The good thing - I had my
tripod out and extend and kept it between me and the
dog. The bad thing - I had shorts on and knew if
anything it would go after my legs. Owner calls
Randall and off he goes again only to circle and try
and come up behind me but this time much closer - less
than a foot I think. I was literally anticipating it
lunging at me and waiting to hit it. I yelled at the
owner to get his dog. He called again - note never
coming over to where we were - and finally the dog
went back to the owner. He then leashed it. I'm pretty
sure it never should have been off the lease. Did the
guy say anything to me - nope like it never happened.
I yelled back that if I hadn't had my tripod it would
have bitten me and a sarcastic thanks a lot followed
by axxhole. Never ever acknowledged me or what
happened. Thank heavens I had the tripod out. I was
actually pretty calm through the whole thing and just
stood there with the tripod waiting to react. Still
not something I would wish on anybody and something I
have never experienced.

I am glad it didn't happen to someone with kids
because I doubt it would have ended happily. BTW, it
was a boxer.

A couple of weeks ago my cable and internet didn't work. I figured it had something to do with the big hole someone had dug in my neighbour's yard. A call to Rogers and out they come to fix it. Turns out Bell Canada had dug the hole. The guy did a patch and said he would come back later to fix it permanently. Now strangely enough my phone doesn't seem to work. I think that Roger's broke my phone service once they fixed my cable. At the same time a light in my living room that use to work now doesn't. I just replaced the plug and it still doesn't work. The interesting thing - the outlet is located on the inside just where the cable and phone boxes are located. Coincident? I think not.

Now to figure out which one of them gets to fix it.

This horoscope is very accurate! I haven't been sleeping this week and I am dead tired. Today was the worst since I had an all day meeting sitting in the dark. Couldn't even close my eyes since it was a client meeting. (sigh) At the moment I have 23 projects that I am balancing and I really do need to dump some of them.

March 21, 2007
For Want Of Vitality
Sagittarius Daily Horoscope

You may be dismayed to discover that you feel drained of all energy today as you likely intended to immerse yourself in tasks related to your long-term goals. Yet while there is a chance you have recently engaged in certain intensely challenging or intellectually taxing activities, your exhaustion is likely related to your agenda as a whole. This can be a great time to sit down with your weekly schedule to determine whether you are overloading yourself. If you are hesitant to lighten your load today because you worry that you will fall behind, consider that you may be able to get more done than you do in the present once you feel rested and peaceful.

We can accomplish little while overwhelmed by a too ambitious agenda, so we need to give ourselves plenty of time to rest and relax if we wish to pursue great aspirations. Though we may initially view the periods we spend in repose as time wasted, we soon come to recognize the value of regular downtime. We feel more energetic after allowing our bodies and minds times to rejuvenate. Likewise, our ability to concentrate on those details that aid us as we pursue our dreams is heightened by our clearheadedness and peaceful demeanor. Ultimately, we discover that we can achieve a state of vitality unlike any we have ever known before when we are well-rested and generally in good physical shape. The exhaustion you felt today will disappear once you have allowed yourself to take a much needed and well deserved break.

My goal this weekend was to complete my taxes. I once left submitting them until October or November one year which is stupid when you are getting a refund. I've been trying to get better over the years and actually get them done before the deadline of April 30th. If you are getting a refund it doesn't matter if you are late since you are losing the interest on it although the government will pay you interest which you need to claim the following year. Of course if you owe them money and you are late they hit you with a higher interest rate then I am sure they pay you if the situation was reversed.

Good news, not only are they done but I am getting a nice amount back. Now I just have to wait for that lovely refund.....

Make time to relax this year. Often, you will accept additional burdens; though without question, you have the capability to manage them. Opportunities are sprinkled along your path. You will have to be clear in order to decide which direction to head in. You start a new 11-year luck cycle. Use it well. How you begin this period could define the remaining years. If you are single, you will meet many potential suitors. The problem lies in that you have so much on your plate, relating could become difficult. If you are attached, you head in a new direction together. Be open and enlist your sweetie’s support. VIRGO pushes your buttons.

You'll need to have your facts straight this year, ongoingly. As long as you know what you're talking about, you'll continue to pass the tests.

Happy go lucky Sagittarius, you must now pay attention to the details of your career. You can no longer live off the resources of past efforts. You must begin anew. You are now setting the stage for the foundation of your social standing and future recognition. It will materialize on or around September of 2007. If you have been taking care of your responsibilities you will receive all the rewards and social accommodations that you can stand. If you’ve been partying and goofing off it’s the time that the “big two by four” smacks you up side the head saying Sagittarius it’s time you paid attention to these issues. Since Sagittarius usually comes up smelling like a rose, more often than any other sign in the zodiac, your “come upins” will not be as drastic as the other signs have encountered.

Right now your ability to charm the general public is excellent. If you have a job that deals with the public you are finding that things are moving along “right smartly.” Underlying this you have an uncanny ability to coalesce people into groups that have a purpose that is much higher minded than what the average person is able to do individually. If you are working toward diminishing prejudice, bias and bigotry you can accomplish amazing feats in bringing us to balance in “truth, justice and the universal way.” After all, you are an idealist are you not? This will free us from clustering in clans to protect ourselves from an artificially propagandized enemy. You make us all realize that, in every country, we all put our pants on one leg at a time and we all need the space to grow and express ourselves unfettered.

Your living arrangements changed a short while ago. The upheaval was fairly significant. Be aware that, now, you can finally “settling in.” What ever education you have received in the last two years is finally starting to show how it will be useful to you…especially in your career associations and projects. You have only to look at how you assess others and their abilities to understand how you have grown in this manner. In spite of your need to party your compassion has take a dominant roll in your daily endeavors. Now your encouragement of others really takes on a practical approach as others will no longer accuse you of looking at the world through rose colored glasses. Just remember that those who still do are those who feel the most insecure with themselves. You shouldn’t “do it” for them. They must learn their own path to their power.

I have returned safely from Scotland! The weather was great and the trip was better than I expected. I'm just sorting through my pictures - I think I took over a 1,000.

Things I noticed in Scotland:

They don't believe in putting clocks in hotel rooms. I don't understand it but every hotel was without a clock.

Most hotels had you dial a number to set-up your wake-up call - the majority of which didn't work. You would call the number for the wake-up and it would just ring and ring and ring.

Toliet's didn't seem to like me. I don't know why but getting them to flush properly seemed to take a huge investment of my time.

Hotels also don't seem to want to provide flannels. Yet another thing I really didn't understand.

Hotels also don't seem to believe in double beds - a single room gets you a twin bed!

Single rooms are also TINY! Me and the suitcase basically equalled no more floor space. I'm not that big either!!!

There are an awful lot of ruined builds through out the countryside. Given that folks took rocks from Hadrian's Wall I'm surprised that the houses and churches fared better.

The Scotish Heritage group does a marelous job of protecting Scotish treasures.

I got my trip information including flights. I got a tad bit of a surprise since I thought I was leaving on the evening of the 19th only to find out it is the evening of the 20th. Oh well, I have extra travel insurance now.

The compact flash still has not shipped from Dell but at least if it arrives I will still be here. The image drive however has shipped!

I can't believe some of the optional tours - most of them involve going to a pub. I don't understand why anyone would pay $30 US and up to go to a pub when you can do that yourself and spend the money on drinks. Basically I'm not interested in the tours they are offering. Plus, I shall be doing some of my own touring.

I realize going to Scotland I'm going to need more memory for my camera since 3 GB will never be enough for 15 days. On Saturday I tried to get a cheap 2 GB flash card but no luck they had sold out of them. I noticed that Dell had a sale so I ordered the card through them. Only to find out they won't ship it for a couple of days after I placed the order. The current ETA - September 20. Slight problem - I will already be in Scotland.

I went to my back-up plan since I saw an 80 GB portable image storage device which was reasonable priced. Great plus they are in stock. Wonderful. I talk to the sales guy and he says they normally ship in 3 business days. I'm thinking great - it's more than 3 business days before I leave. I place the order only to be told it will be delivered in 3 to 5 business days. The 5th day would ta da - September 20th. Once again the date isn't working out for me. Based on the robbery shipping charges the damn thing should be delivered the next day. What gets me the most though is you can't buy the stupid thing at their retail stores which would have save me the shipping charges.

I am really hoping one of the two shows up by the 19th at the latest.

I got a note from the travel agent with the confirmation for the trip and asked if I needed to sign and send anything back. She tells me know that their reservation agent will get back to me and if I don't hear anything in a week to give her a call. Uhm, I should be leaving in a week so I really hope they call before then.

There seems to be a lot of death and terminal illnesses running around work at the moment. In our group alone we have or are going through;
- death of a Mother-in-Law in a car accident
- death of a Grandmother
- death of an Uncle
- 18 year old with terminal cancer
- 12 year old with chrons
- 19 year old next door neighbour with terminal cancer
- 2 year old with terminal brain cancer

Needless to say it has been a tad depressing lately. It really puts into focus just how short life can be. I have been reading all about life lists lately and thinking that it might be a good idea to put one together. I'm still working on it but I can already tell mine is going to have a tendency to be filled with places I want to visit.

For some reason this year I got it into my mind that I wanted to visit Scotland. Well in less than two weeks I will be. Yeah!!
